Premarital Counseling

The most important decision of your life!

You’ve heard it before – Yep, marrying someone is the most important decision in your life.

It feels weighty, Huh – but also like an exciting journey at the same time! And like any journey, you want to be prepared.

Perhaps you have been dating for a while now, and you are getting serious.

Are you serious enough to have a marriage date? Is it soon, but not too soon? Good – You’re in the right place.

How do you prepare?

Preparing for a lifelong journey is almost impossible upfront.

But there are some key things that you can pack in your bags as you start down the road together.

These are the kind of things you don’t want to be without when you are a couple of hundred miles from where you left.

Here are some questions to consider.

  • How do we handle stress?

  • Do we communicate the same way?

  • How do we express ourselves to each other?

  • How do we deal with conflict?

  • How does my partner view our relationship?

  • How much do we know about each other?

You likely have good answers to each of these questions. And your answers are essential and a part of the map for taking your journey together.

In premarital couples counseling, all we do is give you the rest of the map (as much as we can without a crystal ball anyway ).

What will we do together?

I will work with you to understand the strengths of your relationship and help identify the areas for growth.

I will help you gain insight and awareness into your relationship, the satisfaction you seek, and the core ways you relate to one another. I will help you clarify how stress affects your relationship and provide you with a map as you navigate your relationship moving forward.

In a nutshell, I work with you to preview and gain specific insight into your journey together. And I further help you move to a place where you feel more confident and aware that you will experience a fantastic journey at that.

What is the result?

Premarital couples who come to me report an increased awareness that feels great because they learned things they didn’t know about each other.

Further, they were able to discuss important topics they hadn’t given much thought to before. And lastly, they feel more confident in managing conflict because marriage conflict is necessary, but the injury is not.

Love happens differently for everyone. It’s unique, special, and wonderful. And I am honored to help you start your journey prepared with your bags packed with all the right stuff.
